As of August 2022 the club voted to implement membership fees for the club. These fees are necessary in order to cover the increased costs of being an NZCF affiliated club, running NZCF rated tournaments.
People are free to come and check the club out at no charge to see if we are a good fit for you.
Fees are paid annually for the calendar year. The fees as of August 2023 are as follows:
Juniors (aged under 13 at start of year) – No charge unless they play in rated* events.
Juniors (aged 14-19 at start of year) – $25
Adults (aged 20+) – $50
* If an U13 Junior plays in rated event the club incurs a $15 annual fee per person from the NZCF which we pass on. U13 Juniors are welcome to play socially and in unrated events (such as Junior rapids) at no cost.
The treasurer may consider reduced membership fees in the case of someone joining part way through the year or, like this year, where there was not much opportunity to play chess early in the year.
